The scientist sums up the state of knowledge: "We used to think that it would take 10,000 years for melting at the surface of an ice sheet to penetrate down to the bottom. Now we know it doesn't take 10,000 years; it takes 10 seconds."

Global Warming is a theory. An unproven theory. One that many scientists don't believe in.

"Global Warming" is just another scientific hoax- like Alar and other hoaxes (aluminum causing alzheimers)foisted by those with their own agenda. That aganda is largely rabid anti-capitalism.

There is an easy litmus test for hoaxes. If the theory assumes mankind has had the ability to effect some global statistic (amount of air in sky, water in ocean, temperature averages etc) then that theory is a hoax.

The truth is that the sky is deep, the oceans are deep. Oceans cover 7/8 of planet. Cities are dots on maps for a reason. They are that small compared to the vast landmass of the planet. All man's works are miniscule compared to daily natural processes on this planet. Anyone who lives away from a city knows all this.

Urbanites believe this crap because they believe cities are large- not small. These cretins fail to understand that they live their entire lives in the same small 15 sq mile urban area. And the next city is millions of sq. miles away on average.

When I was in Junior High back in the early 60's the scientists used to say that the world went through a cycle of hot to cold (ice age) and back and forth.

Many of the science fiction writters picked up on this and a lot of interesting books were written.

Now, there is a Global Warming that is being caused, not by the natural way of things, but because we are killing off the trees and poluting the air!

I find it interesting that there is Global Warning and it is getting warmer, yet we keep reaching new record LOWS!

        Gee, scientists, which is it?

Is a natural happening, or have you AGAIN changed your minds! This sure does make you wishy-washing!

Science used to be things that could be proven over and over again. Until you could it was theory.

        When did it change?

Theories are fine, but let's keep them as theory and not as truth and/or fact until we can prove them over and over again!

yeah sure - thats why glaciers all aorund the world are "dissapearing" - some of the glaciers have been on this planet longer than humans. oh how silly of me.. i know they are just going on vacation. as for the increased number of hurricanes - you kno what pat robertson said - god is just angry at sinners. look you ****** need to connect the dots before you screw it up for every1. you prove that global warming doesnt exist. i want to see you prove that pat robertson is right and the ice caps that are breaking apart and dissapearing are just "going on vacation". Really lets hear it. Its not a theory when we can prove the greehouse gas theory. IT IS HAPPENING. The ozone layer is bouncing off radiation - yes just like you learned in science class.

Is it getting worse? yes. The chemicals in our atmosphere have multiplied several times since the 50's. jesus what more proof do you need? does the pope have to say it for it to be true?

ok what if i am wrong? what if all of this really is a humongeous hoax? what if all of the hundreds of scientists all around the world and in the north pole are wrong? maybe they are wrong.... but what if they are right? if they are right then it is getting real close to the point of no return "global warming"-wise. we could not only doom our country but the world and all things living on it - and all ur ass can do is take it lightly. This is not somehting to be taken lightly whether it is wrong or right. untill you can prove it wrong i would not be so quick to continue to ****** up the ozone layer. you would feel real damn dumb if global warming turned out to be real - wouldnt you?

lets risk the entire world because off of your hunch you think we are actually safe - and all of the hurricanes and melting glaciers and icecaps is just coincidental. thats real cute but im not going to take chances like that.

Global warming is a known fact otherwise scientists wouldn't be so concerned about it. It been known for years that this is happening. Once again humans are ignorant and ignore warnings until it is too late.

the reson we get "record lows" dtress1d, is that we have only been recording these for about what? 100-150 years. records will be broken. and like robear says, are you willing to gamble the earth for your children? how many times have you heard an astronaught say? "when you see the earth from out there, you realize just how fragile it is." when you look at the earth from out there, you realize just how thin the atmosphere really is. And dlsawyer, i live away form the city, and i believe in global warming. so although i can't speak for all country folk, please don't speak for me. any of you live in the city and drive an suv?

                          Right,

We are back to the old "perhaps the charge has no credibility- But just look at the SERIOUSNESS of the charge" guano.

If the rest of us thought like that the CHRYSTIC INSTITUE and SANE FREEZE would still be slamming RONALD REAGAN and conservatism. Both were 5 column front organizations for the KGB or Cuban intelligence you know. But that didn't matter to urbanites the seriousness of what they were saying trumped reason.

The question one needs to ask oneself: Am I a man? Or am I a mouse? Can I think for myself? Or do I listen to the tone of who is speaking and how fervent they are saying it over the content- like a pet?

Urbanites think they are so smart. The rest of us know that is not really living or thinking at all. People who live in cities are communal by nature, they accept "groupthink" over their own logic and reason.

It really is sad. Fancy clothes, nice apartment (concrete cave?), snobbish attitude (and debt out the wazoo?)- but no one is ever, ever home.

                            Robear,

The myth that you are accepting is the myth that most scientist agree on the theory of global warming. Most scientist do not agree on the theory of global warming.

No more than they agreed on the nuclear winter guano put out by sane freeze in the 1980s. You know the theory that all life on the planet would end due to three or four years without a summer if there was even a "limited thermo-nuclear exchange betweeen the US and USSR"? Remember that?

The other myth held onto by environmentalists is that the environment is polluted. Only urbanites would believe that as the facts do not support that thinking.

If one tells the same lie long enough and often enough people who can't or won't think for themselves will buy into it. That's the lesson here.

(Thaw: Perhaps you are right I am a bit urbanophobic. Yes, the atmosphere is thin and the ocean shallow, but the environment is basically massive and in great shape. Pristine with teeming wildlife.)

The dirty little secret is thet the envoronmental lobby has gotten very good at propaganda/disinformation. They do this to perpetuate themselves and because they are making a nice living spreading the notion that "the planet is in danger."

The liberal media and liberal politicians have bought into it to further their own careers.

                                Some truths:

                                "Threatened rainforest"

Rainforests grow back 30-40 ft a year in cleared areas. (Not the 2 ft a year in temperate zone forests) Slash and burn agriculture cannot keep the land clear in tropical areas. Rainforests are not really threatened by slash and burn agriculture. Because a cleared area regrows in 3-10 years (not the 100 years required for temperate forests). Rainforest basically quickly regenerates.

The myth that rainforest is threatened is really effective on temperate zone dwellers who really do not understand the tropics. (After all that Maple in the front yard is taking forever to grow right?)

It is NOT global warming. We are in a constant state of change. It is based on the Sun and how it reacts to our atmosphere. Also note that changes due to earthquakes (affecting earth tilt and realation to sun speed of rotation) and atmosphere variances vary over time. Our greenhouse gases compared to what a Volcano multiplied by (x) volcanos erupting produces more than the processes of man. Anticyclones and the cyclones are driven by the jetstream which figures into this greatly. Check this out and look at the data. It is more cogent than the greenhouse gas theory. It fits more concisely and is readily verified. Global warming is a means to political ends and means. It also lets governments convince people that we are in control which we, are not. They infer we are in control of this which is what they want. Then they can avoid actual things which they cannot control which would cause ( PANIC) which every government wishes to prevent. They lie to keep control and order.Sensible?

"The planet is threatened by pollution":

Business and people in general have cleaned up their act. Largely due to environmental movement of the past. One can now drink from the great lakes or just about any stream in America and many rivers in America- this was not true 40 years ago. Air and water were polluted. Catalytic converters in cars were a great idea. Fuel injection vs carburetion & computer controls on engines etc were all good ideas. As was Clean Coal technology etc that scrubs Sulfer from coal etc. And regulations that require busiensses to clean up water before discharging it. All of these were good ideas.

Still environmentalist perpetuate the notion of a threatened environment where their today really isn't one. This is the way they alarm the rubes into sending a donation.

This one perhaps used to be true. Not true anymore. A myth.

Enviro-crazies wish it were true. No one who lives in rural areas believes a bit of it tho-. They see the truth with their own eyes everyday. They see the damage done to crops by excess populations of waterfowl, dove, deer, elk etc.

They see the streams and rivers and lakes choked with stunted populations of fish.

Recycling has been great for the environment. Less material is mined per ton of new product. A fact. Recycling has introduced new efficiencies to the economy- a good thing.

Right, we could do more. One can always do more. Particularly if what one is doing is measured and reasonable. Not extreme and rediculous.

The crux is the benefit of doing more vs the cost? Little added utility vs much cost makes grownups say "NO". No more.

ENTER THE GLOBAL WARMING ARGUMENT- This argument says we may not be doing enough. That its genius. The entire warming is a fabrication of convenience for the furtherance of enviro-craziness...

Anyone who doesn't buy it has to 'prove a negative'. "The planet is not warming". When record low temps go aginst the theory?- the global warmers quickly say the low temps are now part of their theory.

Say you are right no matter what the evidence! That's science? No. NOT SCIENCE at all. A CULT.

Have you actually spent any time looking at the evidence and who are behind this hoax? Yes it is a hoax. Back in the 90's this whole thing started as just a slick way to redistribute wealth from the "have nations to the have nots". It was the Socialists at their very best. As you may or may not know countries like Mexico, India, China were to be the beneficiaries of this hoax. The industrialized countries were being set up to have to purchase global warming credits, provide free technology, build clean coal technology and etc. for the third world countries. The problem is that the US would not sign Kyoto. In addition other countries like Canada, who signed it under a Liberal/Socialist government are now having second thoughts AFTER looking at the results of having to meet the carbon dioxide requirements. Yes, it is a hoax.
