Aurora alert! If you live at a high latitude - Alaska, northern Canada, Scandinavia, and so on - tonight is a good night to look for the beautiful aurora, or northern lights.

I never have seen the Northern Lights...I hope to someday travel and see them. The pics are so beautiful.

I'm totally fascinated with this kind of stuff. I live in Buffalo, NY and sometimes am lucky enough to see them. It's sweet how the website documents what kind of photo equip. these people used to capture the pics.

I've only seen the aurora once, and it was from a plane while I flew overnight from Los Angeles to London.
I had planned to sleep, but this green gossamer curtain that danced out my window as far as I could see kept me up until dawn.
We never see it down here in Los Angeles, but if you live in a place where they may show up, grab a blanket and head out tonight.

  That sounds very cool, especially from a plane. I was on a plane tonight from DC to Chicago and couldn't see them at all.

  I live in MN and right now and its so cold it'd be a sleeping bag. IF that. I've been fortunate enough to see them. Each time is just as beautiful as the first.

I live in southern indiana, and about two years ago we actually got a vivid glimpse of the norhter lights. It wasn't like anything i've ever seen.

I've never seen them. The green glow from the iceland pictures are so beautiful. Maybe one day I'll be in the right place to experience them too.

  That's a wonderful endeavor to pursue.
  I've seen them often & each viewing is, in its own way, spectacular.
  (Sometimes they are white & pencil thin, others as indicated in the colorful pictures we see so often.)
  Vacation Alaska In February!!!!!

One of the best places to view the northern lights is LABRADOR. They are an incredible site.

Years ago (mid-1970's), I had the good luck to see them from southern Wisconsin. A sight to behold.

Heck I live in Alaska, and I have only seen them 2 times, the times that the aroras are active we have clouds!!!!!
I live 70 miles north of Anchorage....

I was stationed in Iceland for a time, and part of my tour there, I experienced the 24 hour daylight periods, the 24 hour dusk period and several nights when the northern lightshow was in full bloom. Very fascinating to watch, and quick to change. It can be the entire skyline one minute, and what resembles lightening shooting across the sky the next. I wish I had filmed it while I had the chance, for my kids to witness. Other experiences there weren't quite so nice, like the whaling periods when caught whales were pulled onto docks for cutting up. Fills the air for miles and it is impossible to breath without wanting to barf. But it was always fun to catch a sonar on a fast moving sub thru the northern ice and tracking it to florida, only to find out we were tracking whales. We did drop a sonabouy once and hit a damn russian sub right on its deck, 20 feet under water. They rose and stole our sonabouy

I grew up on a farm in Northern Wisconsin, and I remember seeing them a few times...they are truly a sight. Being out in the country there were no "city lights" to detract from their beauty. Unfortunately I've been legally blind now for 17 years, and am only able to make out a dim glow, but my childhood memories remain perfectly vivid.

I have been fortunate enough to see them as far South as 50 degrees North. One of Mother Nature's most spectactular sights and one that even we can't screw up .... I hope.
