Brain surgery, usually simply lobotomies, was performed earlier than that in many parts of the world, and most notably in Madagascar and Java, where stone tools were used. Remember that primitive Man was a hunter, and through butchering he learned a great deal about anatomy. Some peoples had brain surgeons before they had houses.
