Cut Forces NASA to Park a Mars Rover

Science – Scientists plan to put one of the twin Mars rovers to sleep and limit the activities of the other robot to fulfill a NASA order to cut $4 million from the program's budget, mission team members said Monday.

How sad. Who'd of thought a little rover expected to last 3 months, would be lost 4 years later, not to the elements but to budget cuts?

Wouldn't it be delicious irony if there is an exposed fossil bed 5 feet from where they shut the rover down? Maybe some future Chinese astronaut will discover such a joke.
