Not so long ago the Church of Global Warming advocates here Aidenag, I think - posted as story about March being the warmest on record (but not in the U.S.) and cited it as proof of global warming.

But now here is the NOAA saying April was a full degree cooler in the U.S. than the average temperature for the entire 20th Century ...

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/ca...

So, does this prove global cooling? Keep in mind, South Dakota was hit with a May blizzard just last week. Don't be surprised if May comes out just as cool.

Thanks for the story. The problems we are encountering due to the unrepentant church and the dire predictions by the UN Political arm will go unreported. I guess NOAA must have received some money from Exxon in April to report such blasphemy.

I love this one. The UN blaming Bush for the world food shortage.

"There is enough evidence now that the White House having introduced to favour biofuels in the US has created quite a massive diversion of food crop products into biofuel production and hence pushed up prices of food, particularly in developing countries,"

Benjamin Chang, a spokesman for the U.S. mission to the United Nations, said the Bush administration didn't consider biofuel development a threat to the poor."

Yet they ignore this...

On August 4, 1994, Al Gore cast the crucial vote which set the United States on the road to taking food out of the mouths of millions, by using food for fuel.

His vote was cast in the U.S. Senate, in his capacity as U.S. Vice President, to break a 50-50 tie. Al Gore cast the tie breaking vote that would eventually guarantee renewable fuels a 15 percent share of the lucrative fuel oxygenate market in 1995."

Gores hands are all over this energy and food disaster.

And as a bi-product of the obvious failure of this movement: Despite Oil Crisis, Democrats AGAIN Block US Firms from Drilling!

This is just unbelievable and irresponsible!

Despite the fact that Castro announced last week that Cuba had stepped up work on 36 new oil wells in partnership with Chinese, among others, off the coast of Florida...

(Maps from Sen. Craig "The Minority answer is always no!")

...Democrats blocked US firms again from drilling there!

So, instead of allowing the most environmentally responsible companies to operate there and increase our domestic supply, China, who has a dismal environmental record, is sucking close, lucrative oil reserves dry!

Stay on this cape ... China drills about as well as they make toys, food, drugs and animal food.

Mexico a couple years ago announced the "discovery" of vast oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico. Of course, we can't expand our own off-shore drilling, so we just have to sit and watch.

the global warming pundits have always used weather as PROOF

for global warming......storms, hurricanes, droughts, higher temperatures to them were always undisputed proof of their theory.......

and as far as a cold April......EVERY baseball game I have watched so far this year the sportscasters have remarked that it seems to be unusually cold for April so much so that the players haven't been really able to get into full stride yet because of the weather on top of which the damn heat came on in the house last week and the thermostat has been set to 60.

The jury is always out when temps are cooler than normal, but let it rise one degree above normal and BAM! All the global warming fanatics come out of the woodwork.

I wonder if man was responsible for the global warming that took the world out of the Ice Age.

No credible climatologist denies that the Earth goes through climate cycles. What is alarming is the apparent rapidity with which this change is happening.

What's alarming is how these changes are being reported. It's not even worthy of the National Enquirer.

I'm all for reducing pollution and finding alternative sources of energy. I'm NOT in favor of self-appointed technocrats arrogating power over the economy unto themselves.

Yes, it's amazing how fast things cooled down.

cooler temp is also a symptom of the problem. grow up and consume less. we don't have to be the greedy energy hogs of the world. take a walk next time...enjoy what's left of this beautiful dying planet.

You forget that to the wacko pseudo scientists everything points to global warming. South Pole glaciers are growing and that proves it.

So, you determine what is credible by a fore gone conclusion that only meets your expectations and if they don't support your hypocrisy I mean hypothesis they are wrong regardless of the scientific support they present!

My brother Graduated from the second rated meteorological school in the country and works for the EPA. He says Global Warming is a "farce" he says all his associates say its a farce including all of his past faculty. This is a group of highly trained people in the field. Personally I don't know, although I too have a fairly strong Science background but Climate is not my specialty but it is my brothers and he is not the type that lies. I think I'll go with what my brother says more than Al GORE who doesn't have this training!

What George says is that the other planets in our solar system are following EXACTLY the same warming curve as Earth

and they have no Humans to influence it!

Hey SJ!

Global warming is a normal condition of the planet. It is inevitable. The only question is whether man is speeding it up or not. What difference does it make? Another ice age WILL happen whether we help it or not. As indicated in my comment below, it snowed about 5 inches here last month! The change in temperature toward the cooler, IMHO IS evidence of global warming even though by its name, indicates otherwise.

Note that the article says, in BIG letters:

UNITED STATES DATA

NOT GLOBAL TEMPS

avatar

Note that no one said otherwise. Yet, it still flies in the face of the "great global warming scare."

avatar
Reply

Actually, it doesn't. Most global warming models do not predict that there will measurable warming everywhere all the time. The model expects longer, hotter summers and shorter, more intense (colder, with more storms) winters.

The majority of glaciers are still receding. Ice mass in the poles are still diminishing.

Talk to me at the end of this summer.

LOL

The South Pole ice is increasing. It is warmer in the North pole and cooler in the South pole. So people like you talk about the north. But then here in this continent it is cooler. Why is it no matter what the data says global warming to Goreabites. I guess since Saint Al has spoken true believers must march.

I'd LOVE to see your data.

There was a HUGE ice shelf breakoff from Antarctica just a few weeks ago.

I did a search on 'Polar Ice Increasing' and couldn't find much. The Northwest passage is within a few years of being open. Canada and Russia are rushing to stake claim to the extremely lucrative passage.

Okay, let me get your scenario here: Al Gore manufactured a global warming scenario and managed to convince the vast majority of international climate researchers that something was going on that contradicted ALL evidence? All without paying them or threatening their lives?

And you DIDN'T want this man as the president?

"Antarctic: For most of the Antarctic, temperatures were not unusual... Warming temperatures and exposure to ocean waves were cited by the National Snow and Ice Data Center as the cause of the collapse of a 160-square-mile segment of the Wilkins Ice Shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula, which began collapsing in late February.

"Antarctic: The amount and stability of the sea ice was not unusual."

Late February? Why, that's the end of Summer down there. No wonder it fell. Everything normal. No melting ice cap.

Try using "thickening" instead of "increasing"

I did find this:

Researchers find Antarctic ice is thickening

New measurements show the ice in West Antarctica is thickening, reversing some earlier estimates that the sheet was melting.

New flow measurements for the Ross ice streams, using special satellite-based radars, indicate that movement of some of the ice streams has slowed or halted, allowing the ice to thicken, according to a paper in the Jan. 18 issue of the journal Science.

Their finding comes less than a week after a separate paper in Nature reported that Antarctica's harsh desert valleys â;; long considered a bellwether for global climate change â;; have grown noticeably cooler since the mid-1980s.

Now the glow bull warmers are saying it's going to cool off for a few years, 10 to 12, before it warms up again. This, they say is just a natural cycle. How odd a natural cycle that cools and here I thought it was us, humans, who were causing the warming now it's cooling and it's a natural cycle.

Is it me or are they confused, I know I am. LMAO

avatar
Reply

Yeah, what they fail to realize is that Earth fluctuates naturally. Even if that paltry 3 percent of CO2 we put into the atmosphere has some miniscule effect, it would have no significant impact on the natural order.

Last winter was among the coldest on record in the Northern Hemisphere. They tell you it was La Nina's fault -- even though La Nina does not affect Asia. A cyclone hits Myanmar - Al Gore blames global warming. Scientists agree there is no conclusive evidence tying hurricane/cyclone intensity to "global warming."

They say CO2 is a greenhouse gas -- meaning it traps the sun's rays in the atmosphere, but say sun intensity has nothing to do with climate change.

In other words, they neglect to rule out the myriad other possible explanations, which is a key element to ANY valid research at any level. But they are the first to jump on alternative explanations when faced with scientific observations contrary to the global warming hype.

avatar

"Scientists agree there is no conclusive evidence tying hurricane/cyclone intensity to "global warming.""

Which scientists? From what I've read, increased storm intensity is to be expected when global temperatures rise. You are correct that La Nina does not much affect Myanmar, but there the area of La Nina is not the ONLY one on the planet.

CO2 IS a green house gas, and it's increase is measurable. Water vapor is also a greenhouse gas, but it has an upper limit to saturation. When water vapor reaches 100%, it rains. That doesn't happen with CO2. There is also methane, which has increased over the past several decades.

My analogy is this: If you put on another shirt on an otherwise nice day and you suddenly feel sweaty, do you immediately go to the thermostat to see if someone turned it up?

Man, I truly hope you are right, and that this is all scientific hysteria. Meanwhile, I gotta go with the evidence.

arounde 1350 until the mid to late 1700's, the earth was in a "mini ice age". This mini-ice age was preceded by an unprecedented period of prosperity brought about by the extremely mild weather -- there were vineyards in England, even. Winters were mild, summers were long...it is estimated that, even if you agree with the 3 degree warming estimate, we are still several (5, I think) degrees cooler than we were then. This is a global average they are talking about.

The terrible weather -- droughts, a year of nearly constant rain, blizzards and whatnot -- actually occurred more frequently during the mini-ice age and is considered responsible for the dark ages. It is also believed that the global cooling exacerbated the Great Plague.

(Don't have the direct link, but this is all from National Geographic)

I read somewhere that the co2 might actually reflect sunlight back and cause cooling!!

avatar
Reply

I sure would love to see where you read that.... I think though, that you are confusing Particle pollution with C02. And everyone knows particle pollution causes cooling. It's partly why the planet has been warming up, we are creating less particle pollution, letting more sun reach the now increased levels of C02, its like a double whammy.

Your source has a kernel of truth. CO2 can reflect some of the radiant energy of the sun, but the vast majority of energy comes through as light energy. When light energy hits a surface, a portion is reflected as light, but the rest is converted into radiant heat. The object can only retain so much heat before discarding it back. CO2 has a much greater capacity to reflect radiant heat energy (which has a longer wavelength) than it does to reflect the light energy from the sun (which has a shorter wavelength).
