Red dwarfs are relatively common, cool stars that are less than half the size of the Sun. Because of their size, it should be easy to spot orbiting planets as they pass in front of the stars.

Gliese 581 is a red dwarf that has a planet in tidal lock.

The planet has about 5 times earth gravity, and is within the habitable temperature.

A glowing red sky with a timeless, unmoving sun, and stocky flat animals feeding off the mushroom-shaped trees.

And as you moved to the dark side of the planet, - one vast storm ringing the world, that marks the barrier between hot and cold sides. Past that, the appearing of a night sky, and a barrier of giant glacier mountains; past that, the frozen icy night side of the world.
